Who?
We are PLATFORM 2, a new part-time performing arts school that provides drama lessons, dance classes and music lessons to young people aged 0-18 years in our community. PLATFORM 2 aims to support Torridge District Coucil's Cultural Strategy and Play Policy and Strategy by inspiring young people through our school, workshops, play sessions, holiday schemes and clubs etc.
When?
PLATFORM 2 is launching in the new year. Our first part-time performing arts school will open on SATURDAY 25th FEBRUARY 2012 in Bideford and will run on Saturday mornings (term time only) 09.30- 12.30 in 3 x 12 week blocks. (FREE TASTER SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE)
What?
Young people will receive fresh and exciting lessons in drama, dance and music learning a huge range of skills from street dance to zumba, from musical theatre to TV acting, from pop songs to DJing. Whether you want to get fit or are considering a career in drama, dance or music or want to gain some additional qualifications or just want to have fun PLATFORM 2 is the perfect place to start your journey!
Where?
Our BIDEFORD school will be based at Rose Hill, Heywood Road which is a beautiful Georgian, building with plenty of room both inside and outside to support our range of activities. Rose Hill is where Northam Lodge run their day-centre during the week. The venue is within easy walking distance of Bideford and Northam, has a bus-stop right outside the grounds and there is also plenty of parking. There will also be opportunites for our students to work in specialist performance spaces when we put on productions.
PLATFORM 2 has plans to expand to other areas in the future. We also provide drama workshops, dance workshops and music wokrshops to schools, PRUs and youth centres thoughout Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.
